@longnetofficial
🇳🇴 Coach Kåre Mol
Kåre Mol is one of Norway's most famous and competent coaches, and has worked with hundreds of athletes, from beginners to international top level, throughout his 40 years as a coach. Kåre himself has 95 international matches indoors for Norway, and was one of the pioneers in Norway's first golden age in beach volleyball in the 90s. He has coached Norway's national team both in the sand and indoors, and has been responsible for athletes in 4 different Olympic Games.

🇳🇴 Coach Jetmund Berntsen
Jetmund is a force to be reckoned with in the Vikings-team. Besides discovering the Fountain of Youth in the late 1990’s, he has been shaping the future of beach volleyball since 2015, when he started working with Anders & Mathias alongside Coach Kåre Mol. Can run drills for breakfast & mountains for lunch. Only eats white bread with butter and raspberry jam for dinner. An esteemed athlete for the Norwegian indoor national team, with x games in red, white and blue.

@meritamol
🇳🇴 Merita Mol
Bringing her motherly energy to an otherwise male-dominated team, Merita’s presence is a virtue for our athletes. Previosly serving as a mental sparring partner for the (then) young athletes, Merita has been everywhere with the Vikings, both on and off the court. She was one the greatest athletes of Norwegian volleyball prior to the success of the Vikings, with All-American status for UCSB in the American college-league, and a 9th place in the inaugural appearance of beach volleyball in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. An amazing athlete and human being.

@sverrekvamme
🇳🇴 Sverre Kvamme
Sverre is one of the most talented filmmakers in Norway. Enjoying the same upbringing as the Mol family in the scenic small town of Strandvik, his passion revolves around creativity and producing high-level content. If you watch our Youtube-channel you’ll easily notice which vlogs Sverre was behind.

@mrsexylegs
Mr. Sexylegs 🇳🇴
Mr. Sexylegs is a character taken straight out of a comic book – extreme in every way. Warrior ethos runs in his veins, alongside pure, unfiltered energy. Hendrik refers to him as “My top pick to have by my side in combat”. Besides being a physio, he is also a seasoned crossfit-athlete, firefighter and MMA-fighter. A devoted religious man despite his hedenistic look, his religion revolving around the playing card Three of Clubs. Only a select few knows why.

Physio Hannes Quandel 🇩🇪
Hannes is the greatest addition to the team since the Nintendo Switch. His curiosity and want-to-know propels him to understand more than most people about the human body and how it functions. We owe much of our success to the German magic hands!

Coach Jostein Olimstad 🇳🇴
Bringing the good vibes wherever he goes and in whatever he does, Jostein is a part time beat maker, part time Yatzy wiz, full time legend. Coached Mathias and Hendrik to their two first World Championships appearances, and was a part of the first major structural change in the BVV coaching staff.

@adriancarambula
Coach Mr. Skyball 🇮🇹 🇺🇾🇺🇸
The legendary Adrian Carambula aka. Fantomas aka. Mr. Skyball is one of the most recognized and impactful players in beach volleyball history. Starting his journey at the beaches of Miami as a teenager, the sport took him to Italy, where he represented the nation in three Olympics. His signature serve has still not been replicated by anyone since it was introduced to the Beach Pro Tour back in 2015, and his passion, knowledge and love for the game will not be replicated by anyone ever. We look forward to working with a legend of the game!
The Origins of the Beach Volley Vikings
The story of the Beachvolley Vikings began in the small Norwegian fjord town of Strandvik in 2015, when Anders Mol & Mathias Berntsen teamed up and set a goal to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. At the time three-time Olympic coach and father of the Mol family, Kåre Mol quit his job to start coaching the young and aspiring athletes, with the help from his wife Merita Berntsen Mol and father of Mathias, Jetmund Berntsen. With a slim budget and only supported by the cornerstone company in Strandvik, Leigland Bygg, the team set their aim towards medalling in various European Youth Championships.
Having reached this goal already in the summer of 2015, the squad was started to be taken seriously by the youth beach volleyball world. In 2016, after finishing his Olympic cycle with the previous generation of players, the already well established Christian Sørum joined the squad, taking a breakthrough 5th place at the Klagenfurt Grand Slam with Anders.
In the fall of the same year Anders Mol was tempted by a professional indoor volleyball career, and played for Maaseik in the Belgian League. Anders, subject of a perhaps serendipitous event – suffered two lung collapses during his indoor stint, and underwent surgery in order to be ready for the consequent beach season. There was no indoor volleyball in sight after this rough year.
Meanwhile, Mathias and Christian played together for a year on the world stage, providing some good results together (Christian and Mathias are actually underrated blockers). Then 2017 came along – the final year before the qualification period for the Tokyo Olympics started. Hendrik Mol had just finished his four-year studies playing indoor volleyball at the University of Hawaii, and was set to join the squad through competitions that same summer. Unfortunately Hendrik suffered an injury at one of the last indoor games overseas, and was sidelined for the beach season. Due to Hendriks’ injury, the remaining trio switched partners from tournament to tournament. The decision fell on Anders & Christian to be paired up after a few good finishes together.
In addition to competing at the highest international stage, the Vikings squad also set the goal to be at the forefront of beach volleyball content creation. Our YouTube channel garnered large amounts of views, and our vlogs became very popular within the beach community.
In 2018 the team of Mol and Sørum broke the sound barrier as they won several Major Series events (the name of the highest level tournament at the time), the European Championships, and topped world ranking as the #1 team in the world. There was not a question of whether or not they would qualify to the Olympics anymore. The team quickly became contenders for the Olympic gold medal.
Meanwhile Mathias and Hendrik battled through many tough qualifiers, and proved themselves to belong in the mix of the best beach volleyball players.
Three years and a pandemic later, battling through a few setbacks and winning many many gold medals, Anders and Christian fulfilled the Olympic journey, making their family, friends, and the whole nation proud by winning the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Since that time, the Vikings squad has stayed at the very top of the game, winning the World Championships in 2022, and most recently, a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In recent years we have expanded our squad to include the baby Vikings Markus Mol and Nils Ringøen. We guarantee that there will be more new Vikings coming in the future!
On the day of writing, Anders and Christian are one of the strongest teams to ever play the sport. But yet, it is still #onlythebeginning
